Top college in Trinity Court expansion

5/12/2011

Cardiff Sixth Form College, which was named the ‘Top Sixth Form College in the UK’ by The Spectator in March 2011, has taken a 15 year lease on all five floors at 3 Trinity Court, Newport Road in Cardiff, comprising more than ten-and-a-half thousand sq ft.  The acquisition has allowed the private boarding college to double its staff numbers and take on 50 additional students, bringing the total number up to 150.  Cooke & Arkwright acted on behalf of the landlord, Woodenbutton Limited in the deal.

“This is a prominent building in the heart of the city centre, with a great position on Newport Road,” said Nadeem Sarwar, Director of Strategy & Forward Planning.  “It is much better accommodation for us and allows us to establish a bigger presence in the education market and attract more students from all over the world.”

Executive Director, Yasmin Sarwar, who was presented with the ‘Best Science Tutor of the Year’ Award by the Prime Minister in Downing Street, November 2011 said, “We offer first class education and expert guidance and this is a fantastic building in which to provide a truly outstanding learning environment.  The move comes at an excellent time for us as last year we were by far the top performing college in the UK, achieving 98% A*-B Grades.  All students that have completed their A level courses with us have gained entry into their chosen degree courses.”

Trinity Court will provide two state-of-the-art laboratories for teaching chemistry, biology and physics; eight large classrooms and a computer suite; a library and a canteen.  The college will retain its former site at 97 to 99 Newport Road for administration purposes, and is currently negotiating for further premises on Newport Road, which is also the location for the majority of its student accommodation.

“Cardiff Sixth Form College has an excellent reputation and we are delighted to have found such a prestigious tenant for Trinity Court,” said Ben Bolton of Cooke & Arkwright.  “The occupational demand for large office buildings remains sporadic, so we often need to look at options outside conventional office users.  This is a great example of just that, with both landlord and tenant delighted with the outcome of the college’s new long term home.”

The College, a charity, specialises in the provision of mentoring in core subjects.  It limits its intake every year to provide exclusive commitment to its students and prepare them for the top universities and for highly competitive Degree Courses such as Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary, Engineering, Law and Economics. The college is a popular choice for top performing government scholarship students from across the globe; it also offers up to full scholarship to local students. It is the only independent school in Wales to be included in the publication by Cambridge University Student Union ‘800 Years of Academic Excellence’ and is quoted as a ‘College with a winning formula’.
